Easy Creamy: Dolce Gusto Picollo Coffee Maker

My review is on the efficiency and helpful working details of this particular pod model and includes tips on some extra possibilities. The Dolce Gusto Picollo is very petite and pretty. Notes for this model: It's very easy to use. The water container is enough for two medium cups. It doesn't use the timing code on the pods which means it's not automatic so you must remember to turn it off when it reaches your desired cup level. A tray underneath would be good in case you or an older loved one forget to turn it off. When not in use it shuts off after a minute. It's important that the light is green before you lift the pod lid. After I first plugged it in I thought it wasn't working as the light didn't light up. It only does this AFTER you lift the lid to take out the pod container. It uses a 10a fuse but a 13a is OK. Mine had a three pin plug. Clean it before you start by filling the container with water then pressing the switch to the left for cold water approx. for one cup, stop, then press to the right for hot and fill the cup. I just poured water into the container in situ rather than removing it first. When you do lift off the water container remember to rinse underneath gently so that in time it won't turn green. My photo is a cup of tea from the Gusto. I put TWO t-bags into a reused pod and then poured some milk from the fridge. It was less bitter and I found I used less sugar and milk. However, I did use bottled water as it's supposed to make it tastier and prolong the life of the machine. I also made a Starbucks Cappuccino, and a Nestle hot chocolate. Good froth/crema and hot. The froth is created by a filter and high pressure within the machine: inserting a milk pod creates a froth on the milk; inserting a coffee pod creates a crema. I was thinking about making a bespoke tea cosy for the machine, a cute hat, as the motor was loud but it was quick. Extras: I'm considering buying reusable pods, but they do leak a little. A 'Tamper' is used to pack the grounds

    Neat little machine...

Well as my title goes this us an extremely neat coffee machine very easy to use NO buttons to press just by removing the pod holder it switches on and warms up!!! Performance wise it's very good though I've never timed it but it's quick enough for my partner and I require our first coffee of the day!!!! As to cleaning it as we've only had it for a very short while other than normal wiping down as we all do whilst tidying around the kitchen we not had to descale it yet though the water is pretty rubbish were we live and that killed our last one even after countless cleaning...the water capacity I would put at two mug fulls with a bit left over slightly down on our previous machine but it's fine. The coffee machine is quite quirky but nice looking it will stand out in most kitchens to be totally honest I recommend fully though one down side I encountered this morning it can bite if you don't watch how and were you put your hand on closing the lid that's a good spring and will trap you on the edge between the lid and side my fault I think but a factor to be aware of .....happy drinking !!!

Great basic model, nice and small and simple to use

So I got this for the caravan actually as it's low wattage and saved me buying a camping kettle and can do hot and cold water too. I've not had a coffee machine before so I've no basis for comparison but I like it. It's simple design makes it easy for a technophobe. It's nice and small to take away and it seems simple to maintain. It feels slightly flimsy I suppose but I've only got it today so can't comment on longevity. It makes a lovely coffee and at the price point of £35 + 4 boxes of coffee and a free £10 voucher at dulce gusto site, it is a bargain so I'm really pleased with it so far. Oh, I also like that you can chose.how much water you add to the coffee and it doesn't just dispense a piddly little amount of water with it like one of my friends one does. You only get half a cup bit this one you can make.it to your own tastes and cup sizes without having to change settings. Bonus!

    Good Coffee machine

I am happy with the look and performance of this coffee machine. It was easy to set up and as it is small it doesn't take up much space in my kitchen. It only takes seconds to get started and makes a lovely morning coffee with the pods that I use. It has an adjustable platform where the cup sits. So far I am happy with the performance and it looks stylish and not bulky like other coffee machines I have previously had.
